HOW IT WORKS: Hackettstown BID businesses wishing to participate will create a scarecrow to be displayed outside their business. Please notify the HBID no later than October 2, 2023 with your design idea. Scarecrows need to be in place by October 6, and removed by November 10.
THEME: MOVIE CHARACTERS
BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN. Every scarecrow must contain the basic characteristics of a traditional scarecrow, which include stuffing or hay that protrudes out of the hands, head, feet, and neck. It cannot just be a mannequin in a costume!
DATES:
10/2 – The Hackettstown BID must be notified by the participating businesses of their scarecrow design via email socialmedia@hackettstownbid.com
10/6 – All Scarecrows placed in front of participating businesses
10/9– Contest begins; Scarecrow Selfie Contest open to the public
10/28 HALLOWEEN DOWNTOWN-Parade, Trick or Treating and Business Specials through town
11/1 – Judging deadline
11/3 – Winner announced on WRNJ
11/6 – Scarecrows can begin to be removed by businesses
11/10 – Deadline for scarecrows to be removed by all businesses

JUDGING: Scarecrows will be judged by the HBID Events Committee by November 2. A prize will be awarded to the most creative scarecrow. The winner will be announced on WRNJ on November 3.
PRIZE: The winner will receive (50) 30-second radio spots on WRNJ
