The Hackettstown Business Improvement District announced nominations for the 2019-20 Board of Directors. There are 5 seats available on the Board of Directors and include three (3) two-year terms for property owner, and two (2) two-year terms for business owner/merchant.
Nominations were accepted from Monday, December 10, 2018 until Friday, December 28, 2018, gathered through standard mail and an online submission form. Members could nominate one candidate for each type of director position, and could also nominate themselves as a candidate.
ELECTIONS will be conducted via electronic ballot at the Hackettstown BID office
(219 Main St.) from 9:00am Monday, January 7, 2019 until 5:00pm Friday, January 18, 2019. If you are unable to vote during the above dates, please contact us to make other arrangements. Results will be announced on the BID website, HackettstownBID.com, and WRNJ Radio, Friday January 25, 2019.
Directors will be sworn in during the Hackettstown BID Annual Meeting to be held at Hackettstown Town Hall, February 5, 2019 at 7:00pm.

Don Sherman, Soups On Main
Don Sherman, is the owner of the recently opened Soups On Main located at 199 Main Street, Hackettstown. He and Donna serve organic style soup ‘farm-to-ladle, pot-to-table”. We moved to Hackettstown so that we could care for Donna’s father suffering from Alzheimer’s. We wanted a community where we could get to know our neighbors, walk to work and live a healthy life style here in northwest New Jersey. A place that is community-driven, pro-business, and environmentally friendly.
Don has been a licensed professional civil engineer for over 30 years. Don is Principal/ Director of Don Sherman Group, LLC U.S./PTY LTD Australia, He is also Executive Vice President of Newark-based TechnoGRID. He has served as project director for program development, management, leadership, training, and coaching that has consistently delivered large civil engineering, architecture, and IT/telecom infrastructure projects in over 20 countries. Prior to opening Real Estate Offices, Debbie was a public school teacher at Warren Hills, Washington. Debbie taught Instrumental Music. Debbie’s students were model students for the Manhattan School of Music Graduate Program.
Debbie resides in Blairstown with her husband John Sayer, a well known mason contractor. Debbie has 2 children. Taylor Evans, age 30 was the head environmental science consultant for the NYC DEP, has advanced to the CDS Pricing Analysis for IHS Markit in New York City. Adison Evans, age 28 is a world class musician. Adison was a professor at Juilliard at the age 26. She has toured the world twice with Beyonce and Jay Z. Adison continues to perform with artist as Wynton Marsalis, Trish Yearwood, Christian McBride, Demi Lovato, Stevie Wonder and many more. Adison’s first album “Hero” has just been named the 14th best Jazz Album for 2016. Debbie takes great pride in her family.
Debbie is dedicated to the revitalization and growth of Hackettstown. Born and raised in Independence township and attended Hackettstown High School.
